You can leave the circus, but the circus never leaves you.
After traveling with the circus for nearly two years, I decided to embark upon a new adventure. This one involves much more time dedicated to writing.
I joined the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in 2014 and participate as much as I can with local events. While traveling, this was tricky, but I did meet many wonderful writers in Pittsburgh, PA and Oakland, CA. Now that I’m back in the great state of Missouri, I am focusing on becoming more involved with home state events.
A graduate of the University of Missouri, I obtained both my Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees in Animal Science with an emphasis in genetics. If you find pig genetics especially fascinating, you can find my research published in the Journal of Animal Science. While selecting undergraduate electives, I rediscovered my love of writing through a Creative Writing course. I also quite enjoyed writing my thesis….weird, I know 😉
Plans for the future include writing, traveling the world, opening a handicrafts store (May 2016), and inspiring a love of animals and agriculture in children of all ages.
May all your days be circus days
Love your blog, Kizzi. I have had trouble remembering to read it regularly (never mind writing yet!), so today I signed up as an e-mail follower. 🙂
